GGM Leung Ting takes legal action against a danish wing-chun association

In order to prevent the unauthorised use of his image and name, GGM Leung Ting has found it necessary to take legal action against a Danish martial arts association headed by his former students.

The Danish students resigned from the European section of the International Leung Ting WingTsun Association more than one year ago, but GGM Leung Ting clearly takes the view that for competitive reasons, they are pretending that they still belong to this successful worldwide WingTsun organisation and continue to receive instruction from him.

Recently the World Chief Instructor was obliged to exclude two Danish Wing-Chun instructors from any further classes who were attending his seminars in China while claiming that they did not belong to the renegade Danish organisation any more!

Grandmaster cannot and would never prevent former students from practicing the WingTsun they have learned from him, provided that they pass on their own interpretation e.g. under a different name then "WingTsun". But if former students use his name and photos to give the impression that they still receive direct instruction from Grandmaster Leung Ting, this is clearly an attempt to deceive others.

It goes without saying that Grandmaster Leung Ting feels obliged to reject such claims and prevent them in the future as far as possible.

It is unfortunate that these Danish former students, who decided to go their own way in 2003, have thought it necessary to use photos of Grandmaster Leung Ting for advertising purposes without obtaining his permission.

It is even more questionable that they are now obliging him to take legal action in order to protect his personal rights over his own image.

We hope that those concerned will now have the decency to remove all photos of Grandmaster Leung Ting from their webpage, their advertising and the walls of their schools. It is improper to live on the reputation and achievements of others!
