The WingTsun scholl next door: Tarp

Waldemar Schulze has been learning WingTsun since 1995, and opened a WT school in Tarp in March 2001.

I find WingTsun absolutely fascinating. I am not only enthusiastic about its unique teaching system, which offers Chi-Sao, simultaneous movements, combat at all distances and so much more, but also by the fact that as a member of such a large WingTsun association, I can practice the same programmes anywhere in my area and attend a large number of seminars. Unfortunately my work as an asphalt-layer sometimes obliges me to interrupt my training during the summer, as this is the busiest time and I have little left over for WT.
My own WT school has been in operation since March 2001. Since there were already WT schools in Kiel and the Rendsburg/Eckernförde area, as well as in Schleswig and Flensburg, and as I grew up near the town of Tarp, I decided to open my school there. Unfortunately the local infrastructure is no longer so wonderful since the German army reduced its presence by 50 percent and has continued to reduce numbers here. At present I teach around 20 students, and also hold courses for 3rd and 4th-year students at the local secondary school as well as special courses for women.

I mainly use flyers and posters for my advertising, and also carry out demonstrations from time to time. I have also tried advertisements in the local newspaper, but I do not yet have an Internet site. Hopefully the homepage will be ready by spring 2005. The response to the flyers and posters is not bad, but unfortunately the newspaper articles do not achieve much around here.

I usually structure my classes as follows: after opening the class we first practice the Siu-Nim-Tao and Cham-Kiu once, followed by a general fitness session. We then practice basic techniques, Chi-Sao, Lat-Sao and BlitzDefence programmes at the relevant student levels. The class then ends with some really hard work. Naturally my WingTsun ambitions are high. If time allows I would like to achieve at least the 4th TG.
